2015 Program

Special Topics

The chart below includes clickable links to the preliminary program for most events. Some times below are approximate due to slight variations in timing on different days.  While some small changes in session assignments for the 400+ Symposium paper speakers/authors could occur, we expect most of the schedule to remain stable. Please note prices go up after May 15.

Due to higher attendance figures we've had to place attendance restrictions on several of the events, so we encourage you to register early before any events sell out. All the events below are at the San Jose Convention Center, with the sole exception being the Honors & Awards Banquet, held at the Fairmont hotel a block up the street. Please see our meetings page for SID committee meetings times and locations. All the events below are at the San Jose Convention Center, with the sole exception of the Awards Banquet, held at the Fairmont hotel up the street by the park.

The Society for Information Display's annual Display Week runs from May 31-June, offering a wide selection of display technology presentations by global experts that simply cannot be found anywhere else.

SID International Symposium
The four-day Symposium features hundreds of leading display industry papers from around the world in multiple technical sessions. It includes a plenary keynote session, presentations in parallel sessions, a poster session organized around selected topics, and author interview sessions with demo models each afternoon. This year's program consists of six technical tracks of over 70 technical sessions consisting of nearly 400 oral and poster presentations.

Sunday Short Courses
The Society for Information Display presents two tracks of four-hour short courses on Sunday, May 31. Full color tutorial notes will be distributed to all participants and are included in the fee. Ample time will be provided for questions from the audience. The speakers are leaders in their respective fields and bring an international perspective to information display.  The tutorials cover the fundamentals of the topic in greater depth than the Monday Seminars, which tend to be focused more on the state of the art due to the shorter time slot allowed for the seminars.

Monday Seminars
The Monday Seminars present lectures on diverse topics related to electronic information displays and applications. These seminars are tutorial in nature, and an attempt is made to provide information at three levels. First the technical foundations of the topic are discussed, followed by recent technical advances, and ending with projection of future trends.

These seminars can benefit both newcomers and experienced professionals. Engineers new to assignments in information display find them especially helpful in getting up to speed quickly. Experienced professionals attend to keep up with recent developments in fields closely related to their specialties. Managers attending the seminars obtain a broad perspective of the display field and a sense of its recent dynamics. Attendees will receive an color notes, consisting of the instructor’s presentation slides, replete with references and illustrations. The speakers are leaders in their fields who bring an international perspective to information display.

Exhibition
The SID exhibition of display components and systems is your opportunity to see the latest innovative products from the leading companies in the information display industry. The exhibition opens on Tuesday at 10:30 and concludes at 2:00 pm on Thursday. Many of the leaders and innovators in the display industry will be represented.

Exhibitors’ Forum
Here, exhibitors give 15 minute presentations describing their technologies and products in a symposium-like setting, offering attendees a more complete picture of what is being exhibited. The presentations are organized by subject and will be presented on a predetermined schedule.

SID-DisplaySearch Business Track
IHS DisplaySearch and the Society for Information Display will co-organize the SID Display Week 2015 Business Track.  The Business Track will consist of four whole-day conferences held from June 1–4 , featuring presentations from prominent executives of leading companies throughout the display ecosystem. Each of the four conferences will link current and emerging issues via information and analysis of the display industry, providing the knowledge necessary to develop effective strategies to succeed in the changing global marketplace.

Kicking off the Business Track, the Business Conference will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015. This theme of this conference is Game Changers: Finding ways to Increase Profitability
Day two of the Business Track will be the Investors Conference sponsored by Cowen and Company on Tuesday. The Investors Conference will bring together investors, industry experts, and early stage companies to identify display-related technologies and materials that investors should monitor.  The third and fourth days are the Market Focus Conferences:

SID-DisplaySearch Market Focus Conferences
After a successful debut in 2010, the Market Focus Conferences, now in their fifth year, will once again be held in conjunction with Display Week. Each Market Focus Conference will concentrate on the critical market development issues facing each of these technologies. Each conference will feature presentations and panel sessions with executives throughout the display supply chain. Conference fees include a continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments, access to the exhibit hall and Tuesday morning keynotes, and electronic copies of the presentation material. 2015 will feature:
SID-DisplaySearch Touch Market Focus Conference
SID-DisplaySearch Wearable-Flexible Market Focus Conference

Awards Banquet
The Awards Banquet will take place at 8:00 PM on Monday, June 1.  This dinner features a distinguished speaker, and honors the SID international award winners and new Fellows.

Display Industry Awards & Best in Show Awards Lunch
The Luncheon will take place at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, honoring the best product, component, and application of the preceding year, and the best products at Display Week.

I-Zone
The Innovation Zone is a two-day exhibit of pre-commecialization prototypes by graduate students, startups, and large companies.  Following SID's mantra of "showing you tomorrow's technology, today," the I-Zone has been a smash hit since its debut in 2012, while 2015 similarly promises to have the exciting prototypes on display.
